Land Use Law regulates the development and conservation of the land. Alongside environmental, administrative, and municipal law, land use law often divides jurisdictions into zoning districts so that it may prescribe specific land development legislation to tailor to each location’s planning needs. Zoning and planning is limited to protect the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the people and land and regulates over things such as building permits, approval of variances from current zoning legislation, eminent domain, etc.
