Description
Admiralty law is the branch of law (both substantive and procedural) that deals with all incidents and rights to parties and their property that occur on international or public bodies of water. Also known as maritime law, this field originally focused on oceanic affairs, but now covers any national or international body of water. Admiralty law commonly covers various subjects including shipping, navigation, commerce, insurance, interactions between ships, criminal offenses, rights of passengers and crew, and other legal issues.
