Gerry is Founder & CEO of Advice Company, which has operated numerous Internet businesses since 1995, including AttorneyPages.com, ExpertPages.com and FreeAdvice.com, and he also was Chairman of its former affiliate DoItYourself.com Incorporated. Gerry is also a member of the consumer law firm of Advocate Law Group P.C.

An honors graduate of the College of William and Mary and the Columbia Law School, Gerry also completed the Senior Executive Program at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and the coursework toward a Masters of Liberal Arts from Stanford. He has been a member of the New York Bar since 1964 and the California Bar since 1991. He is also a member of the bars of the Supreme Court of the United States and numerous Federal district and appellate courts.

After military service as an officer with the Army Security Agency, Gerry began his career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in New York, and later headed its Special Enforcement and Surveillance Unit, before engaging in law firm practice. He joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and served as an Assistant General Counsel, and moved to the business side, initially as Vice-President for Corporate Planning and Development and later as head of the Investment and Fiduciary Services department. He later was President & CEO of MetLife Marketing Corporation, and retired early as MetLife’s Chief Brokerage Executive.

Gerry is Chair of the Life Insurance subcommittee of the State Bar of California’s Group Insurance Programs, and formerly was Chair of the Insurance Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice, a Member of the Council and Budget Officer of that Section, Chair of the Going Private Panel of the Federal Regulation of Securities of the American Bar Association’s Business Law section, Chair of the Administrative Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, and a member of the Professional Responsibility Committee and the Wills, Trusts and Probate Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, as well as the former Chair of the California State Bar’s Group Insurance Programs Committee.

Gerry also has served as a consultant to leading banks, insurance and financial services companies, and as an expert and consultant for the U.S. Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission and various consumer and corporate clients. He has chaired and/or spoken at numerous professional programs before lawyer, insurance, actuarial and other professional groups in the United States, Canada and England, including the Society of Actuaries and the American Bar Association, on topics from government ethics, insurance laws and regulation, insurance product design, insurance marketing, life settlements, lawyers’ proper use of the Internet, estate planning, legal ethics and professional responsibility. He also has testified on behalf of bar association and industry groups before committees of the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and several state legislatures.
